These tiles make up patterns, religious symbols, house numbers, and many other details of Azorean architecture. At Ceramica Viera, on São Miguel Island, I documented the making of these tiles from start to finish. In the beginning, you will see the tiles being tested for strength and durability. I was fascinated by the surprise music that was created during this test (make sure your sound is on!).
