Yesterday evening The Duke of Rothesay and The Duke of Cambridge attended the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, held in the grounds of Edinburgh Castle.

As the Guest of Honour The Duke of Rothesay (as The Prince of Wales is known in Scotland) acted as the Salute Taker for the performance.

This year the @edinburghtattoo has the dual theme of 'The Year of the Aircraft Carrier' to mark the launch of HMS Prince of Wales, and, to mark Scotland's Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, 'A Splash of Tartan.

The Edinburgh Tattoo is an annual series of military performances by the British Armed Forces, Commonwealth and international military bands. Since the first Tattoo in 1950 48 countries from across six continents have been represented. ?PA
