Chichi-sugi is an 800-year-old Urasugi Japanese cedar found on the largest of the Oki Islands. Surrounded by mist, the tree takes on an air of sacred dignity.

Underground water runs beneath the rock face around Chichi-sugi, sending cool air rising up out of the cracks. It’s a wonderful feeling in the heat of summer!
