#AndyWarhol, born #onthisday in 1928, carved out an artistic niche for himself early in his career. He explained: "If you want to know all about Andy Warhol, just look at the surface of my paintings, and films, and me, and there I am. There's nothing behind it." In this self-portrait, created the year before his death, he manipulates a Polaroid photo of himself and covers it with a hot pink and red camouflage pattern.
