"I don't need much," I said. I meant it. It wasn't a fluffed up or veiled statement. A few glasses of rose, a simple dinner of grilled rainbow trout and fatback and green beans. Not a single plan but to enjoy the dock, each other, the water. And then this, a sunset to cap off, with sun on our shoulders and noses, favorite songs on the little speaker, the stiff northern air pushing our little boat and our hair wild. My loves, simply celebrating my life, wanting to be near me, is all I ever needed or wanted anyway.
