Two years ago I was in northern Australia thanks to a grant from the National Geographic society. We were there to capture photos And videos of saltwater crocodiles. We wanted to capture something that no one had before, not to be the first but to be able to show them in a new way in the hope that that we could help re brand an animal that is often thought of as a mindless killing machine, programmed from birth to hunt and kill. I know that a video of a crocodile attacking our remote control boat seems a bit sensationalistic -- but our goal beyond capturing the moment of the attack was to record video of the crocodile swimming underwater. Other less aggressive Crocodiles have been filmed in the water but saltwater crocs are too dangerous for that. As we worked on this project we began to see that crocodiles are WAY! smarter than even we thought when we began. Moving forward we hope to do more work that shows how extraordinary these creatures are
