Next Monday is the 10 year anniversary celebration of #irisvanherpen Couture at #parisfashionweek, first another inspiring collaboration from the first decade. Sound designer and musician @sssalvadorrr Breed has composed and directed the soundtracks of many Iris van Herpen fashion shows and special projects.

Iris: "Already for eight years Salvador creates the sounds for all of my shows, giving each of my garments their own voice. Our most amazing collaboration was the 'Embossed Sounds’ show where the models became a sensory orchestra. Here the garments became musical instruments by embossing the sensors inside the leather textures. This became the most intimate and seductive show I have experienced. Salvador creates euphonic architecture, where he sees sounds as objects in space that are transformable in their shape, color and texture. Working with Salvador is synaesthetic, a collection does not feel finished to me until Salvador has given each of my materials their voice.” Salvador: “Throughout the years we formed a language between us in which audible and visual have fused together. Iris’s materials, textures and shapes are so incredibly rich and otherworldly beautiful, they immediately trigger associations and sounds in my head - often new ones. Our conversations towards a show can feel very abstract to an outsider, yet they make perfect sense to us - sometimes words aren’t even needed. I am very thankful for our strong synesthetic connection, it continues to have a profound influence on all of my work. Embossed sounds was a very intimate exploration between our worlds, with the physicality of touch as a bridge between them.” Video credits
