In much of my work, I try to reveal the invisible connections that exist between all the different layers of life, and I am moved by the underlying unity and the forces at play inside nature’s growth systems. Resemblance can be seen between the branches of a tree, a river network or the patterns of lightning during a thunderstorm.
Thinking of the meaning of dressing in historic cultures and rituals, lets draw inspiration for the present, to dress and express our philosophies through personal style and growth.~Iris

One of the nine themes embodied in the ‘Iris van Herpen. Sculpting the senses’ exhibition is ‘Growth Systems’, which explores the entanglement of all forms of life and challenges the idea of the garment being a simple cover for the body.
