Photograph by @andyparkinsonphoto/@thephotosociety Rabbit kitten in evening light – It’s amazing when I look through my files just how many images that I have yet to process or am yet to send to the agencies that represent my work. There is no doubt that these are challenging times for wildlife photographers and the ubiquity of images, and the corresponding fall in prices means that the vast majority of my previous revenue stream has simply dried up, or at least generates a lot less. Of course it would generate a significantly larger amount if I pulled my finger out or miraculously found the time to spend the necessary hundreds of hours at my computer to process my vast backlog but this is the one aspect of my job that I find most challenging. I don’t like being sedentary and I don’t like being stuck indoors, sitting in a darkened room captioning and key-wording hundreds/thousands images. Still, it is going to have to happen one day soon as it is simply madness to invest all of the time and effort trying to revisit species when I have some very decent and useable images that I simply haven’t gotten around to processing. So here is a new one out of the queue, a rabbit kitten in glancing evening sunlight. With images of all the lagomorphs (rabbits and hares) the vanity of wildlife photography means that we often prefer them to have their ears fully up, their eyes bright and alert so it was fortunate that this young kitten was aware of all the possible dangers lurking in its new world. Photographed from a low perspective to throw the backdrop out of focus I was fortunate that the rabbit paused in front of a distant hedgerow, itself in shadow, as this provided a nice, dark, clean backdrop against which the rabbit kitten could stand out.
