Wendy and my Grandma Pamela grew up in a country town in Victoria called Warracknabeal. When they were children, Wendy fell into the local creek and my Grandma, a tomboy and a strong swimmer, jumped in to save her. Wendy grew up to be discovered by Helmut Newton on Collins st. Melbourne, and became 1956 Australian model of the year. She moved to Los Angeles and lived here for over 40 years before she passed.
My Grandma raised 4 daughters, one my mum Bronwyn, married my Dad and they both became successful art publishers, who raised my brother and sister and I surrounded by art, and artists.
I will forever be grateful for coming from a family of strong, resilient women, and also from a family who celebrates and embraces art, expression and the human body.
My unique family and the influence of all my relatives runs in my blood, is part of who I am and will always be unwavering in the face of angry, misguided and repressed people, who have not had the privilege of being taught to see the world with an open perspective.
