Taiwan's top court just ruled that current laws against same-sex marriage are unconstitutional, paving the way for it to be the first place in Asia to legalize marriage equality!

This is joyous news and wonderful progress, particularly in light of all of recent tragedies that have occurred: like in Indonesia, where two men were publicly caned in front of 3,000 people for being gay; or in Mexico, where reports have stated that over 200 LGBT citizens have been murdered over the past three years; and in Honduras, where a gay couple was stabbed to death.

The LGBT community must celebrate forward movement towards global equality, but also unite against hate crimes like these. We're all in this together.
