This bowl is a rare survival of figural Sultanabad pottery.

Sultanabad ware is often typified by cobalt-blue and turquoise splashes, and though this has a monochrome palette, there are the smallest of splashes of blue, for instance in the lower folds of the figures robe, suggesting perhaps that it shared the kiln with more colourful wares.
