The New York-based artist Kim Keever is known for crafting elaborate dioramas in an aquarium then releasing pigments into the tank and taking pictures of the resulting underwater scenes. Keever, who studied as an engineer and began his art career as a painter, has said that he draws inspiration from geology, botany, and from his own personal experiences of the natural world, seeking to create images that “sit between reality and artificiality.” The image shown here, from his “Abstract” series, from 2015, devote entire frames to conflagrations and billows of radiant paint.
