This portrait of W. S. Davenport by #KeesVanDongen recently had its world turned upside down in the #BKMConservation lab. The subject's dapper bowtie had a paint layer loss that required stabilization and aesthetic compensation before the painting joined the touring exhibition #FrenchModerns (currently on view at @mcnayart). Since the painting is so tall, this unusual orientation made the bowtie much easier to access. We can all use a change in perspective now and then!
