“Perception is everything. The biggest challenge I have faced in my life was going through a divorce. My daughter was two and a half years old, and I felt like my world was crumbling around me. It took me a long time to see it, but what I came to realize was that it is from this place, in the darkest times, that we can truly grow. At my lowest point, I saw that I had two choices — to fall into the hole or to make a change and learn from the experience. Running trails and ultra running played a huge part in this transformation. Long miles in beautiful places, both solo and with close friends, allowed me to really see things in a different light. It helped me to become aware of my ‘issues’ and choose to work on myself to grow. Throughout the process, I became a better version of myself.
