I stopped by #ThePulse nightclub in Orlando today with my friends Keith and Eggie. There is a shrine that has been built around the perimeter of the club in honor of the 49 people who were murdered here last summer. It was very powerful to feel the energy. I was moved to tears several times. How many lives were lost, the fear that must have been felt in the hearts of those who survived the attack, the pain of so many families and community members and the outpouring of love from around the world that came in the wake of so much sadness, anger and questioning "why?". After decades of being together the freedom to marry was won in the state of Florida and last February Keith and Eggie tied the knot. On the drive over to the Pulse we talked what a long way the movement for equality for LGBTQ people has come in their lifetime and we were starkly reminded at the Pulse of just how far we have yet to go as a nation and world. I left with a heavy heart and an even deeper commitment to my mantra that all people everywhere deserve to be happy, healthy and equal. #orlando #lovealwayswins #LoveOutLoud #soulrocker #equality #courage
