Over Christmas, @lostc0llective did some experiments with the #NIKKOR AF-S 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR. Brett had never really used a telephoto lens before and he wasn't sure what he wanted to do with it, so he just drove around looking for something that caught his eyes. Within a day, he realised that his new project was finding abandoned farms houses in the distance and shooting them from the roadside. It was also a welcome change to have a totally different approach to what he does with an unfamiliar lens and different style of composition. This image is part of an upcoming collection which Brett has titled 'Home'. This farmhouse was shot off the Monaro Highway near Bredbo, #NSW. Brett wasn't able to stop in time, so he decided to let it go and just keep driving home. After about 20 minutes of heading in the opposite direction, all the while, regretting the missed opportunity, he decided to end the torment, pull over, turn around and head back for this one photo. Looking at it now, he is glad he did. The colours are what made the image stand out and such a valuable shot for Brett. He reckons that this capture also really helps to show what that lens is capable of, by compressing foreground elements only meters in front of the photographer, with the subject, and all the way to the foothills several kilometres away. #mynikonlife
