Green Cape Lighthouse is Australia's first poured-concrete lighthouse and the southernmost lighthouse in NSW. The tower, located within the Ben Boyd National Park was designed by James Barnet in 1880 and lit for the first time on November 1st, 1883. The lighthouse was officially turned off in 1992 after the construction of a modern steel tower closer to the point. The location is extremely remote and well away from any light pollution whatsoever. The night in which the photo was taken, @lostc0llective had some really weird experiences. Brett was at the lighthouse at midnight, kilometres away from the nearest town, when police arrived to investigate the theft of tens of thousands of dollars' worth of solar panels. Despite a bit of skepticism and after an identity check, Brett was able to go back to his Astro-photography. Couple of hours later, he met the lighthouse keeper who started to tell the history of the place. It soon turned into a story of the ghosts of shipwreck victims who haunted the lighthouse cottages, in particular, a thickly-bearded sailor who apparently had also been reported by the guests of the cottages. So from that, Brett went back at 2:30 in the morning, slightly shaken from the police encounter, amongst sounds of all the nearby animals scurrying around in the darkness, while hoping to not meet the vengeful ghost of a sailor he had just been warned about. #mynikonlife
