Photo by @Tim Laman. Little buddies. Orphan orangutan in captivity at a rescue center crave the contact they miss from their mothers, so they form buddy pairs. These guys spent the whole day hanging onto each other as they explored a forest patch at the International Animal Rescue center in Ketapang. Their mothers were killed so they could be sold as pets…. it’s a far cry from growing up wild in the rain forest. They are well cared for at the center after being confiscated from the illegal pet trade, but this has to be stopped. #UnpublishedOrangutans photo from my recent Dec 2016 story in @ナショナルジオグラフィック magazine.
