Video by @gabrielegalimbertiphoto | Some time ago I had the fantastic opportunity to work for 2 days with the The Jaguar Rescue Center in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. This center is a temporary or permanent home for ill, injured and orphaned animals. The JRC provides veterinary services, 24/7 care and comfort to animals that would otherwise be unable to survive in the rainforest or the sea of the Caribbean. The goal of the JRC is to rehabilitate animals and reintroduce them back into their native habitats. Sloths, monkeys, birds, snakes and more are brought to the JRC, and treated by professional veterinarians, caregivers and a team of staff and volunteers. When they are healed and healthy, most animals are reintroduced to their native habitats to live out their lives in the land that is their home.
In those two days I helped the team of JRC to rescue two newborn sloths and an adult one which were found alone in the forest. Without our help these animals would have been dead soon. I had the luck to hold a sloth in my hands and feed him with care. Few months after I left Costa Rica I contacted a volunteer of the JRC and I have been told that 2 of the sloths were reintroduced in the forest and they were perfectly living their natural life. #sloths #costarica #puertoviejo #recue #rescuing #forest #jungle #jaguarrescuecenterfoundation @jaguarrescuecenterfoundation
