Photo sequence by @Tim Laman. A Brown Pelican comes in for a landing on a sea cliff in San Diego, California last month. When I’m not actually on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック, I’m always looking for opportunities to practice my craft since success in wildlife photography is an interesting blend of art, science, and technical skill, including hand-eye coordination. Action bird photography is one of my specialties, so pelicans are a great subject for practice. Modern tracking autofocus certainly makes it a lot easier to get a series of shots that are all in focus like this, but its still a good challenge!
