Happy #Hanukkah! Yes, those are little Statues of Liberty on a menorah.

Its creator, Manfred Anson, was born in Germany. He escaped the Nazis as a teen, but the rest of his family was sent to concentration camps.

When he came to the U.S. in the 1960s, he started to collect memorabilia related to his new nation, eventually gathering THOUSANDS of souvenirs of the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell and the Capitol.

He fashioned a menorah in 1986 for the centennial of the Statue of Liberty, and one of its early casts made its way into our @国立アメリカ歴史博物館. Each statuette (made from those souvenirs) has important dates from Jewish history.
