Happy almost #Catsgiving! Are these not the cutest historic cats you've ever seen? We hear that @eastmanmuseum has been bragging that THEIR cat pics are better but you've gotta be kitten me. Ours are purr-fect. They may be the world's oldest photography museum but our Photographic History Collection team knows the truth: ours are litter-ally the best. ??? This is a stereograph, a scene photographed with a camera containing two lenses situated approximately 2.5 inches apart, which is the average distance between our left and right eyes. The result is a pair of images with slightly different perspectives. When the images are viewed together using a stereoscope our brains merge the two images together into a three-dimensional scene. Stereographs were prevalent from the 1850s through the 1910s.
