This magnificent harp from ancient Egypt would probably have been played at banquets and feasts associated with gods. Most likely played by plucking two strings at a time, the harp only has five strings – 9 or 11 stringed harps have been found more frequently. Boldly decorated on all sides, it features the head of a falcon at the top of the neck and a crowned deity on the soundbox. #AncientEgypt #BritishMuseum #harp #instrument #gold #music
