A vintage photograph of supermodel Carmen Dell’Orefice wearing a chiffon hat decorated with silk roses, called 'Royal Garden Party', created by celebrity milliner Mr John of New York in 1953. In the 1950s and ’60s, Mr John was as famous for his hats as Christian Dior was for haute couture. His creations appeared in Hollywood films with Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, Vivien Leigh and Marilyn Monroe. His other notable clients included Wallis Simpson, Mrs Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, Eleanor Roosevelt and Jacqueline Onassis.⠀
