Girls on Ice is a special program offered for free for high school girls that takes places annually in both the Alaskan range and the Cascades. The program follows the STEAM philosophy, which aims to incorporate the arts into traditionally STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) programs. The girls spent 12 days exploring Gulkana Glacier and the surrounding alpine landscape. They devised and carried out their own science projects while on the glacier.
