Why do we do the things we do? The quotidian is obvious. We need to keep a roof over our head and food on the table. Yet we need to venture out of the comfort zone to challenge ourselves. This is living. Himalayan alpine climbing is my personal passion and an example of leaving the comfort zone for an intrinsic reward. ☀️?⛅️??☁️?⛈?⚡️ For a span of five years over two expeditions @renan_ozturk , @jimmy_chin and I endured, cold, fear and hunger to visit a unique spot on our planet. The central pillar of Mt Meru was this place. The snow patch was guarded by gravity and was the drive for our obsession. The process of climbing this mountain was, in hindsight, more meaningful than the summit. The change we experienced as friends and as a team is the reward for our self imposed journey of hardship. Meru is an example of why, collectively, we need to #questionmadness.? Find something in your own life that will define you. Yes it's a form of madness, yet it will bring something to your life. You won't know what it is when you set out. You'll find it at the least expected moment and at the most obscure location. When it does land in your consciousness you'll be a different person. This is, after all, what we live for. ? by Jimmy of Renan and I pitching the ledge on the on the second day of the 2008 attempt on Meru. The storm lasted longer than expected. We were hungry, happy and touched by a little bit of madness. Thanks for the memories Jimmy and Renan. @thenorthface
