Photo: @ivankphoto Manuel Peranchiguay sits by a wood-burning stove on the island of Teuquelín, Chile, in May of 2009. Teuquelín is part of the Chiloé Archipelago in southern Chile. Most of the people had left the small island looking for work elsewhere. The people who stayed, mostly belonging to the Peranchiguay family, survived off the land and the sea. They harvested luga, an algae that is sold to make shampoo and cosmetics. This photo is part of a journey through South America culminating in the book Historias Mínimas, by @kchete77 and @ivankphoto. @runa_photos, @panospicuters, @thephotosociety
