After being driven underground by Soviet rule for nearly 80 years, the Russian Orthodox Church has been resurrected and is being rapidly restored to its former splendor as the center of Russia’s identity. Here, a priest baptizes youngsters at a small lake near Perevalovo, Russia. The kids had been attending a summer camp under the supervision of the local eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church. Some of the children came from troubled homes and without experiencing peer pressure would have refused to be baptized.
