This overlook is the site of a tramway called the Grand Escalade which is proposed to take up to 10,000 people a day down to the Colorado River and Little Colorado River confluence inside the Grand Canyon — a place considered spiritually sacred by the tribes of the Navajo, Hopi, Zuni and more. This development is on the Navajo Nation's land on the border of Grand Canyon National Park and many Navajo including the current president are opposed to this project.
