Photograph by @Thomas Peschak As I sit quietly on the sandy seabed 50 feet down, a near constant stream of prehistoric looking seven gill sharks swims past my camera. Once abundant throughout the colder waters that abut South Africa, today large aggregations of these sharks are rare. Overfishing for their oily livers has restricted this species largely to marine protected areas.
