As I wind down after another performance, humbled by the generous spirits of those who attended as well as the people behind the scenes who helped make it happen, I am reflecting on the concept of truth. I usually reserve such long narratives for my personal FB page, but today I am compelled to share here for those who may take the time to stop their auto-scroll and read it. I believe in the concept of personal truths (from the individual perspectives based on their experiences, social and other circumstances etc.), then there is, as one artist I loved would say, the abstract universal truth...THE truth if you will. Our personal truths can be clouded and shaped by so much, then mixed with our emotions and egos/pride, it can become terribly warped...a perspective, an opinion, an interpretation...but not the truth. I am constantly resetting myself through life when I feel my compass become compromised and confused. Truth is like that rare song you can't stop loving, a kiss that opens invisible eyes...the mystery that we all hold the key to yet forgot where it lies.
