Photograph taken by @christianziegler This is a rare peek into opened arboreal termite nest. I came across this nest when I was walking during a rainy afternoon on Barro Colorado Island, Panama. The termites open part of the nest wall to expand the nest, in the meantime it was open allowing me to see the complex structure inside the nest.
