Happy 26th birthday to Sydney Leroux Dwyer! The daughter of a Canadian mother and US father, she became the youngest-ever player in the history of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup when she represented Canada at the 2004 finals in Thailand aged just 14 years and six months. Immediately spotted as a future great, she then captained the USA in 2008 and 2010. Leroux and her team-mates won the trophy in 2008, with the prolific forward sealing the personal double of the adidas Golden Ball and the Golden Boot. With the senior national team she has won the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament and the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
