Photo by @alisonwrightphoto // April 25, 2015 a 7.8 earthquake rocked the small Himalayan country of Nepal killing more than 8,000, injuring at least 21,000 and leaving thousands of people homeless. Nepal had been my home for many years so this is story that touched me deeply. I arrived back in the country shortly after the second earthquake hit in May 2015 to document some of the ongoing struggles of the earthquake relief efforts and recovery. I have always been struck by the resiliency and tenacity of the Nepalese people and true to form they were each trying to help one another in some way. It is a very poor country; one in four of Nepal’s 28 million people live on a daily income of less than $1.25 a day. My hope with this story is that people will continue with their generous donations and support as this country continues its efforts to rebuild. During April 25, 2016 I will be returning for the year anniversary of the earthquake to document how their lives are progressing. To see more on this story please follow me @alisonwrightphoto.
