#SeikoStories - We had a Canadian visitor to our NYC Boutique yesterday who came in wanting more information on the watch he inherited from his father. You might recognize the #6139 series on his wrist as the "Pogue" chronograph, so nicknamed for astronaut Colonel William Pogue who wore this model on the 1973 Skylab 4 mission. Our customer's watch was made in January 1971. Fun Fact 1: Pogue wore the watch on his left wrist during the mission (it was his personal watch, not NASA Flight-approved). Fun Fact 2: As far as we know, the 6139 was the first ever automatic chronograph in space. Fun Fact 3: Pogue is cited as having said that the Seiko performed flawlessly on the mission ?
