Today, we reflect on the legacy of pop icon Prince.

Prince Rogers Nelson was a multi-talented artist who achieved popular success while pursuing eclectic and innovative musical visions. One of the best-selling musicians of all time, he is also remembered for his energetic performances, film work, and songwriting.

He designed and played this "Yellow Cloud" guitar. The guitar is in our collection, although not currently on display. It was custom-made in 1989 by the Minneapolis, Minnesota, firm of Knut-Koupee Enterprises. The musician's distinctive personal symbol adorns both the top and the side of the fingerboard.
