#goggs Goggs FAQ--- Why do you wear them?: Back in 2003 when I was a young, athletic, but extremely uncoordinated volleyball player (not too far off for my current status, minus the whole young thing), I got blasted in the face with a volleyball during a blocking drill. Shout out to Tom Hogan!! I bruised my retina and had a temporary blind spot in that eye because the back of my eye was essentially bleeding. After a couple of days, my vision fully returned, but as a safety precaution I had to wear protective goggles because a recurring blast to the eye could result in permanent blindness. Ain't nobody got time for that! Since then, I've been rocking the goggles! Are they prescription?: nope, they're just clear lenses. I wear contact lenses on a daily basis. Why do you take them off to serve?: as much as I love making fashion statements on the court, I actually hate wearing the goggles. It's not the easiest thing to play with, but I have such an inherent fear of blocking without them--because, you know, potential blindness--that I can't play in the front row without them. When I'm back serving and playing defense, there's a lesser chance of me getting hit in the eye with the ball, so I don't need to wear it. I said "lesser chance" because, after all, I AM a middle blocker (#middleproblems). Anything is possible, but I'll take my chances! Wait. Are you wearing sunglasses to play now?: No! They're actually clear frames but transition to adjust to the brightness in the room. That way, if a gym has super bright, blinding lights, I'm not too affected by them. They may look a bit silly, but if I'm going to wear goggles, I might as well use them to my advantage! Are you sure you aren't wearing them to make a fashion statement?: Okay, you got me. My ultimate goal in life is to be a style icon. How am I doing so far?💁🏾 (kidding, of course) What brand goggles do you wear: Nike Show-X2!
