A state wildlife manager in Cody, Wyoming, checks on a problem grizzly that’s been tranquilized so it can be relocated away from a residential area.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to remove grizzly bears from protection within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem under the Endangered Species Act. Grizzly bears were designated as threatened with extinction in 1975.
Delisting the Bears would mean that limited hunting could resume outside the national parks according to state management plans. Please check out National Geographic's project on Yellowstone to coincide with the 100 year anniversary of the creation of the U.S. Park Service.
