Happy Easter, everyone! Yesterday @jenniferlholland and I were fortunate enough to spend the day at @noahsarkclub, home to over 1,500 rescued animals, including this spider monkey. This fellow was formerly an exotic "pet," who was tearing all the doors off the hinges in the house where he lived. You'd think you'd expect that considering YOU HAVE A SPIDER MONKEY IN YOUR HOME, but, no - he was turned over to the sanctuary like so many other forgotten, mistreated, or misunderstood animals from homes and roadside zoos and medical experimentation and cockfight rings and on and on and on. Here this young gentleman offered me his tail in a sign of friendship and we just sat there for a few moments, tail in hand. For me, seeing all of these animals getting a second chance in life was, in short, one of the most wonderful experiences I've ever had. I'll be posting lots more photos soon.
