Cheryl Donegan’s 2007 'Luxury Dust' paintings are composed on flimsy cardboard similar to product packaging, and are individually titled after commodities—such as 'Accessories', 'The Skirt', and 'eBay'. The series includes oil paintings as well as a few works covered in gold and silver tape, slashed away in sections to expose the works’ lowly backings. Throughout her career, from her earliest paintings to these more recent works, Donegan has been relentless in her exploration of surface and materials.
