#FischliWeiss created a variety of sculptures that address the notion of interiority—an egg, the ear canal, a bean inside its protective shell. These sculptures are distinguished formally by their overall grayish to green tonality and lack of any decorative detail. "Animal" is of indeterminate species, resembling something between a dog and a hippo, and features nine apertures that emulate human anatomy. Viewers can peer into either end of this charmingly rotund creature in order to read the light-filled inverse of the opposite orifice, one of which reveals an almost human facial expression.
