It’s #StDavidsDay today and we’re highlighting some beautiful watercolours of Wales from the Museum’s collection. This work was made by Thomas Girtin (1775–1802) and is one of a group of studies he made on a tour of North Wales in the summer of 1798. This work depicts a rocky stream flowing under bridge with mountains in distance near Beddgelert. Girtin travelled southwards from Caernarvon towards Beddgellert (in the Snowdonia area of Gwynedd, Wales) through some of the most grand and celebrated scenery in Wales.
