Today is #StDavidsDay and we’re celebrating with wonderful watercolour views of Wales. This work by Alfred William Hunt (1830–1896) depicts Dolwydellan Castle located in Conwy County in North Wales. Hunt was a watercolourist and landscape painter who adopted the Pre-Raphaelite principles of minute observation and intense colour. Dolwydellan in North Wales was a favourite subject of his, and alongside this watercolour from 1856 he also painted a similar view in 1865.
