This beautiful great horned owl is a permanent resident of the @ojairaptorcenter, a federally licensed rehabilitation center for birds of prey and other wildlife. Located in Ojai, California, the center is home to a wide array of gorgeous animals. Newton was imprinted at a young age and is no longer able to fend for himself. Imprinting occurs when a baby bird is fed/taken care of by a human when it is 4 - 6 weeks old or younger. After that, the bird will no longer associate or recognize its own species.
