Photo by @anandavarma. An Oasis Hummingbird comes in to feed her two chicks. She has to collect both nectar and insects to feed her chicks. She built this nest in an olive orchard in the Azapa Valley at the edge of Chile’s Atacama desert. I went there to search for hummingbirds with friend and collaborator Chris Clark as part of a 9 year project to study and document bee hummingbirds (a group of the smallest hummers).
