There's few places in the world that could claim they host a better sunrise than Utah's Mesa Arch. Located in the Island of the Sky region of Canyonlands National Park, Mesa Arch stretches across the edge of a sheer cliff that drops an immediate and steep 850 feet, with endless views beyond. I wish I could claim I was the first the find and photograph this jewel of the desert, but alas it's been sought after by millions who have made their way through this quiet corner of the continent. As the sun rises behind the La Sal mountain range, the underside of the arch begins to glow like a building flame and that's when the camera shutters fly. In busy seasons, this small location will be chocked full with plenty of people, but luckily there were only a few other spectators the morning I was there. Even if you're not a morning person, this is one place that is definitely worth waking up before the crack of dawn for! #moab #utah #nature #sunrise #desert #southwest #winter #nationalpark
