I just returned from my recent trip to Utah's remote desert region. Days were spent waking up well before sunrise in the frigid cold to staying out late after sunset to witness the epically dark skies that only a truly wild place could produce. One of the greatest joys I had during my visit was the lack of crowds that the Moab region sees during the mild winter months. There would be hours where I wouldn't see a soul and the stillness and quietness of the snow covered desert seemed to close in around me. I figured the first photo I had to share should be from Delicate Arch, which is not only the symbol of the state of Utah, but to many it represents the deserts of the American West. This arch consisting of Entrada sandstone, stands over 65 feet at the edge of a natural amphitheater. As the sun began to set, the arch and surrounding rocks glowed with a deep red hue, similar to what many would think Mars would look like. Although it's been photographed more times than one person could count, I could not afford to miss it and I'm glad I didn't!
