Happy #PresidentsDay! Here’s some hair from the first 14 U.S. presidents. ?
It’s one of the more…special objects in @国立アメリカ歴史博物館’s collection. John Varden, a 19th-century collector who eventually became a Smithsonian curator, put this display together in 1855 when hair keepsakes were considered less creepy.
We don’t know exactly how he collected the presidential locks, but he’s left us quite the history to comb through.
