This picture is from the community parade in Pointe a la Hache, which is near to the mouth of the Mississippi River- in fact, the background is the river levee. One thing that many people don’t realize is that Mardi Gras isn’t just a New Orleans thing- everybody celebrates. Suburbs, small towns, fishing communities - all along the Gulf Coast they get into the action with their own parades.
